We spent today at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you would expect, most of the museum is dedicated to US Space travel. There is still a great deal about the history of rockets from the beginning of history, including both exploration and military uses of rockets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the normal displays about important and famous people in the field of rockets, the museum had some larger than normal displays and artifacts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Including a 364 foot tall Saturn V rocket.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

There were many interactive displays and games, plus takeoff and landing simulators, capsules to climb into, 3D movies and a planetarium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also had a few rides. Our favorite was the Hyperspace Ride. It had five different simulations. The ride was synchronized with each movie so that you could watch the movie, feel the motion and experience
the details in a whole new way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They also had several places to take your picture where you could be using equipment or wearing a space suit.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

There was one surprise display in the gift shop. One of the training crews for the space camp program built a K’nex dinosaur of of K’nex blocks. It has been recognized as the world’s largest K’nex statue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statue is about thirteen feet high and about 25 feet long. It is hard to see how colorful it is in this picture.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Greensboro Science Center and the US Space and Rocket Center are both members of ASTC. Since we are members of the Greensboro Science Museum, we got to visit the US Space and Rocket Center for free today.
