Our final capitol tour for this trip was the Missouri Capitol in Jefferson City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carvings on the outside of the Capitol wrap around the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In front of the Capitol is a statue of Thomas Jefferson. The man for whom the city is named.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The inside of the dome is very ornate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The artwork is impressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The Missouri State Seal was seen in many places throughout the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The archway halls on the second floor were different and interesting. We were there on a Saturday so the building was relatively empty. Because of this we got to here an unusual echo in the hallways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The arched hallways provided a different shaped space for the artwork on the walls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We also were visiting during a summer renovation period. The house chamber was being recarpeted. All of the furnishings were neatly stacked in the halls and corners of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Senate Chamber was locked so we caught this glimpse of the room through a window in one of the doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Here is a better picture of the House Chamber minus the normal fixtures and carpeting. The stained glass widow behind the press area is one of the largest stained glass windows we have seen in any capitol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though the building was under renovation, they had done a good job of providing access to see the main parts of the building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the outside of the Capitol there were a few statues. This one depicts the signing of the Louisiana Purchase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After our tour of the Missouri Capitol, we drove to Frankfort Kentucky. On our way we passed through St. Louis Missouri. We saw the Gateway Arch. (A stop for a later trip)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also crossed back to the east side of the Mississippi River.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was our last day of visits for this trip. It feels good to head home after so long on the road.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
