We are in Sacramento today to visit the California State Capitol. It is a typical copy of the capitol in Washington DC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing that was very different was the formal dress of the staff at the check in location. Based on the staffing and the amount of scanning equipment, they are very serious about security here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The locked doors of the Senate gallery<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

and the house gallery confirmed that theory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Our tour of the capitol was limited to the hallways and the museum displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

One of the displays showed the original masonry work of the rotunda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We were able to see the dome in the rotunda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

There was a lot of detail in the artwork of the dome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum was small but had a lot of history crammed into it. The stained glass copy of the seal of the state was unique.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is difficult to decide if there is any significance to the fact that two actors have been governor of California. It is complicated by the fact that one of them was later President of the the United States. Are we really that enamored by fame, or were these two really great leaders?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got an interesting photo of the capitol with an aura from the sun behind the dome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Sacramento we drove 300 miles up highway 101 to Redwood National Park. We had many scenic views like this lake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We also saw Redwoods before we got to the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

We were surprised that most of the route was a four lane road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A significant part of the drive was along the Pacific Ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\"\"<\/figure>\n\n\n\n

After several hours, we finally arrived at Redwood National Park. The area also has several state parks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stopped at one of the beaches in the park to enjoy the ocean view and the surf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We got to see how rocky the California coast really is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We stopped to smell the flowers, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
