We woke up before dawn because we have even more driving today, and a repeat of the construction zone delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One benefit of the early hour was the chance to see so many stars in the sky. Our camera could not capture all of them, but you can see a faint white light from the Milky Way in the center of the photo.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here we are at one of the “rest stops” along the way. Many of us waiting for the construction delay got out to enjoy the view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our original plans called for us to stop at the Father Crowley Overlook. It was closed due to the construction and repairs going on. We got a distant view of the overlook as we drove by it. The first part of our drive through Death Valley was a repeat of yesterday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We did notice some new things on our way. We got a far off view of the Mesquite Flats Sand Dunes. We stopped at the Furnace Creek Visitor Center. Once we got past our travels of yesterday, we noticed a dry lake bed, the normal condition in this area. There were some plants that appeared to be glass or crystal rather than organic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once we were out of Death Valley, we were still near it. This road is actually on the border of Death Valley. To the left of the road is the park, on the right is private land. We got to see another 20 miles of the park even after we left the park. Once we were in Nevada, the drive felt much more like the desert. We saw buttes, cacti, and lots of arid land.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
