The New Mexico Capitol in Santa Fe is the most unique capitol we have seen. At first it seems small and plain. But it is much more than the first impression allows. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a round structure with a great design. It’s interior is very modern. Every detail inside and out says something about what makes New Mexico special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rotunda is clean and crisp. Its style matches the rest of the capitol. Almost every office in the building is close to the rotunda. Notice all the artwork on the walls on each floor. It was interesting how a photo taken straight up to get the ceiling changed the appearance because of the backlighting of the skylight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Senate (two pictures to the left) and House (two pictures to the right) chambers are similar to each other, but different from every other capitol. Their difference and the excellent design make them special.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is artwork of many types throughout the building. The unifying theme is that all pieces tell you something about the character and history of New Mexico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The furniture and decor of the hallways, stairs, and offices is very modern as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The New Mexico capitol stands apart from the rest because of its unique design and style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our drive from Santa Fe, New Mexico to Oklahoma, City Oklahoma was about 530 miles across New Mexico, the Texas Panhandle, and part of Oklahoma. We saw many miles of straight roads, some fall foliage, and many wind turbines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The best views of the day were saved until we arrived at Oklahoma City. As the sun was setting, a storm was brewing. We got to see a very wide rainbow, and an extremely unusual sunset.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
