We drove home from Cookeville, Tennessee today. It was a nice day for an autumn drive. It was also good to get home. It took four weeks to drive 7,500 miles to see 11 national parks and seven state capitols. It was a busy, productive, educational, and enjoyable four weeks on the road.

Inside, we got to see the Senate Chamber, the House Chamber, and the old Supreme Court Meeting Room. They use many skylights in the building for illumination. The main dome is ornately decorated with stained glass. The Arkansas Treasurer and his staff work hard to make sure you enjoy your stay. They spend time talking

The rotunda is clean and crisp. Its style matches the rest of the capitol. Almost every office in the building is close to the rotunda. Notice all the artwork on the walls on each floor. It was interesting how a photo taken straight up to get the ceiling changed the appearance because of the backlighting

This was the view the resident of this house had. Zooming out or up and down may impact the view. There was an abundance of material available nearby if they ever wanted to expand their home. The land in the area was rolling and relatively flat. We still saw hills and mounds on our hike.

We drove to the Vercamp’s Visitor Center this morning. On our way we spotted a javelin next to the road. From the Vercamp’s parking lot, we hiked to the Bright Angel Trailhead. The walk was along the Rim Trail so we had great views of the Grand Canyon. We also saw the Kolb Studio. It

It was about a one hour drive from Williams, Arizona to the Grand Canyon. It was a very flat drive with only a few hills. The mountain in the first picture was quite a surprise. On our way into Grand Canyon National Park, we caught a glimpse of a very large hole in the ground.
