Today we left New York to head to Delaware to visit the Dupont Estate. The estate includes a massive house and many acres of land. It is actually a little less land today because some of the land was donated to a hospital.
We spent our time in New York staying with our son Eric. He works from home as a consultant on Microsoft Office.
Here we are saying good bye to our sons AJ and Eric.
Here we are at the Dupont Nemours Mansion
The walk from the parking area to the mansion goes through a very long mall lined with trees, decorations, and a fountain. These four pictures show the walk through the mall as we approached the house.
One of the impressive aspects of the estate is the level of detail in the gardens, the house and the decorations. Everywhere you turned there was another impressive view of something.
The garage was also an impressive collection of cars. That they were almost 100 years old made the car collection even more fascinating. Even today the cars are well maintained. Look at the shine on the garage floor. Imagine the size of the staff that is needed to keep the entire estate in this condition!
It is interesting to see how the truly rich live. It is also reassuring to see that many of the very rich also invest in charities like hospitals to help those around them.
