April 25, 2019 : Trip 1, Day 11 – Franklin and Memphis Tennessee

We started our day in Franklin Tennessee. The city of Franklin has set aside an older part of the city as a living testament to the history of the city. You can tour the area, see the streets as they used to be, while they are still in use today. It was a neat experience to see the late 19th and early 20th century blend with today.

After Franklin, we drove to Memphis. On the way we checked for tickets to Graceland. That was when we learned that there is a limited number of tickets for each day. So we got to see Graceland and Elvis’s jet in a drive by tour.

Instead of a tour or Graceland, we saw a 322 foot pyramid. Bass Pro Shops has constructed a pyramid in Memphis that has a Brass Pro Shop, a hotel, a restaurant, and more space than you can imagine. There is an elevator that goes to the top of the pyramid. The elevator takes you to the restaurant at the top of the pyramid. Pictures cannot do this place justice.

The pyramid is packed with lots of different spaces: bowling alleys, a pistol range, an over sized Bass Pro Shop, aquarium, restaurants and more. It was so large, we needed help to find the correct door to get back to our car. Here is one picture from inside the building.

Inside the pyramid.

Our trip plan is to see all the state capitols, all the national parks, and all the neat stuff in between. The pyramid definitely fell into the neat stuff in between category.
