We spent the night in Frankfort Kentucky. We will not visit the capitol today because it is closed on Sunday. We will instead enjoy a drive through the mountains of Kentucky.
Mountains means a different thing east of the Mississippi. The trees and the mountains are still fun to observe.
We got to use some real back roads along the way.
Because the trip is shorter than the interstate, the travel time is about the same. The views are definitely better, and the traffic is lighter.
We finally got back to North Carolina.
It was a joy to see the sights of eleven national parks, six state capitols, and fun places along the way over the last 37 days. It is also great to be home!
