Last night we arrived at the Yosemite Valley Lodge. This is the view from our room.
Today we hiked the Lower Yosemite Falls Trail. The falls were much different than the last time we were here. Last time it was spring. The temperature was chilly and there was water everywhere. Today the temperature is near 100 and the waterfall is nearly dry.
Whether you look upstream or downstream, it is obvious that the snow melt is gone. The water level is very low.
If you look closely from the correct angle, you can see a very small flow of water over the falls.
Even in this larger close up, it is a challenge to see the water.
On the trail we found this tree growing over a rock.
After our tour of the Lower Yosemite Falls, we walked over to Yosemite Village.
There is a double tree that has a deck built around it. The village is like a small town main street with shops and food available.
We waited for the shuttle for quite a while. Then we decided we would walk back to our room. It was about a twenty minute walk. We did not see a shuttle during the walk back to our room. Because of the dry falls, we decided not to hike the Upper Falls trail. We took a half day of rest instead.
