The second day of our short trip 2 was a visit to the Capitol building in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
The interior of the capitol is impressive. The white rotunda walls provide a great background for the decorative interior.
The rotunda area is a great base for the dome at the top of the rotunda.
The level of detail and trim continues in both Senate and House chambers.
Even the ceilings have many types of decorative flourishes.
After we completed our tour of the capitol, we drove back home. While we have made the trip through Virginia on Interstate 81 many times, we decided to take a new route home. The new route took us through the Mountains of Virginia. Here is one of the views as we were driving down a mountain.
While the two days went by quickly, we saw quite a variety of sights. It was a great whirlwind tour.
