It was raining hard in Little Rock this morning. The streaks in the large picture are raindrops! We could still see the Capitol, but it was very wet outside.
Inside, we got to see the Senate Chamber, the House Chamber, and the old Supreme Court Meeting Room.
There are many arches and a lot of marble in the Arkansas Capitol. It has an impressive look.
They use many skylights in the building for illumination. The main dome is ornately decorated with stained glass.
The Arkansas Treasurer and his staff work hard to make sure you enjoy your stay. They spend time talking with all the visitors. They also give you the opportunity to hold $600,000 in cash.
The interior has many very intricate details in the walls and woodwork. There are some items that we have not seen elsewhere. These include four huge brass doors that are very polished. The dome over the rotunda was different as well. Outside, they have a very tall remake of the tablets of the ten commandments.
After we finished our tour of the Arkansas Capitol, we drove back across the Mississippi River to Cookeville, Tennessee.
It has been a fun trip. We are ready to be home again.
