We began our day at the Maine Capitol building in Augusta.
One side of the capitol has a very classic look. The other side has a unique round tower as part of its design.
The House and Senate both have very open and naturally lighted atmospheres because of the numerous windows.
The interior of the capitol is not ornate, but it is very impressive.
The view from the outside was very nice. It was also more green and flowered than we expected for mid September this far north.
After the Capitol tour, we headed to Schoodic Point. It is the more remote part of Acadia National Park. It is a peninsula to the east of the main part of Acadia. There is a one way loop road that is about a 45 minute drive through this portion of Acadia. There are many places to stop and enjoy the great views of the bay, the ocean, and the other side of Acadia National Park. It is a great way to see the park without the crowds.
