Today we started our last road trip to visit national parks and state capitols. By the end of this trip, we will have visited 49 state capitols and all 51 national parks in the contiguous US and the 2 national parks in Hawaii. We have not yet visited the capitol of Alaska or the 8 national parks in that state. We have also not yet visited American Virgin Island National Park or American Samoa National Park.
In addition to the national parks, we will be visiting several fun places along the way. This should be a great trip. It will be nice to go south for some warmer weather in December.
Our first stop was a visit to Leopold’s Ice Cream Shop in Savannah GA. It is a well known shop that has been around for over 100 years. It is not surprising it has lasted that long because they have great ice cream.
There are many movie posters on the walls of the shop because the current owner, Stratton Leopold, is also a famous movie producer. He has credits in both the Star Trek and Marvel franchises along with many other movies.

Since we have participated in Girl Scouts with our daughter and as part of work, our next stop was at the birthplace of Juliette Gordon Low in Savannah. It is an interesting museum and a tribute to the vision that Juliette Gordon Low had. While she modeled the Girl Scouts after the Boy Scouts, she saw the potential to give girls a sense of self and the courage to go out and change the world.
